Search Anne Arundel County 24 Hour Booking

Anne Arundel County is one of the few Maryland jurisdictions that gives you a working online inmate locator for 24 hour booking searches. The county runs two detention facilities and processes a high volume of arrests through Annapolis and Glen Burnie. You can search by first name, last name, or jail ID to pull up current custody status, bail amounts, and upcoming court dates. The system requires exact name matches, so double-check your spelling before you search. For records that go beyond what the locator shows, the Police Central Records section in Millersville handles formal requests during weekday business hours.

Anne Arundel Inmate Locator

The county maintains an online inmate locator that is free to use. It pulls from the booking database at both the Jennifer Road and Ordnance Road facilities. You can search three ways: by first name, by last name, or by JID number. The JID is the jail identification number assigned at booking. Results show which facility houses the person, their next court date, and bail or bond details.

One thing to know. The search demands exact spelling. If you type "Jon" and the booking record says "John," you get zero results. Try both versions if you are not sure. The locator does not display mugshots. For booking photos, you need to make a separate request through the records office.

24 Hour Booking Facilities

Anne Arundel County operates two main facilities for booking and detention. The Jennifer Road Detention Center at 131 Jennifer Road in Annapolis handles maximum security inmates and serves as the primary intake point. Its capacity is 410 beds. Call (410) 222-7374 to reach staff there. The Ordnance Road Correctional Center at 600 East Ordnance Road in Glen Burnie has 362 beds and houses male inmates, both sentenced and pretrial. Its number is (410) 222-6350.

All new arrests go through booking at Jennifer Road. Staff process identity checks, fingerprints, medical screenings, and property storage. Under Maryland Rule 4-212(f), each person must see a District Court Commissioner within 24 hours of arrest. Commissioners are on duty every hour of every day, including weekends and holidays. They set bail under Maryland Rule 4-216 or release people on recognizance when the charges and circumstances allow it.

Note: The Sheriff's Office can be reached at (410) 222-1571 for general questions about custody or booking status.

Anne Arundel County Booking Records Requests

Formal records requests go through the Police Central Records Section. The office is at 8495 Veterans Highway, Millersville, MD 21108. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Phone is (410) 222-1490. You can walk in, call, or send a written MPIA request. Processing takes up to 30 days under Maryland General Provisions Article Section 4-101.

Records you can get include incident reports, arrest records, booking data, and accident reports. The first two hours of search time are free. Copies cost about $0.50 per page. If you want booking photos specifically, mention that in your request. The locator does not show them, but the records office can pull them from the system.

Statewide Tools for Anne Arundel Searches

Beyond the county locator, three state-level tools can help with Anne Arundel County 24 hour booking searches. The DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator covers people in state prison custody. It will not show someone sitting in the county jail, but it catches anyone who has been transferred to a state facility after sentencing.

VINELink tracks custody changes across many jurisdictions. You can register for free alerts by email, text, or phone call. It works well when you need to know the moment someone is released or moved. The Maryland Judiciary Case Search rounds things out with court-side data. Search by name or case number to see charges, hearing schedules, and dispositions. All three tools are free and available around the clock.

Visitation and Inmate Services

Video visitation is the main way to see someone booked into Anne Arundel County facilities. Jennifer Road offers visits Wednesday through Sunday in two blocks: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. You must be on the approved visitor list, and scheduling is done online ahead of time.

Money deposits work three ways. A kiosk in the facility lobby takes cash with a $3 fee. An online trust fund portal is also available. And you can mail a money order directly to the facility. Each method has its own processing time, so check with the facility for the fastest option if you need funds added to an inmate's account quickly.

Expungement of Booking Records

Arrests that never led to charges qualify for automatic expungement under Criminal Procedure Section 10-103. This happens within 60 days of release for arrests after October 2007. Other outcomes like dismissals or acquittals can be expunged on request, usually with no waiting period unless the State files an objection within 30 days. Probation before judgment cases become eligible three years after completion.

The Maryland Courts expungement guide has the forms and step-by-step instructions. Shielding under the Second Chance Act is another option for certain misdemeanor convictions. It hides the record from public searches but keeps it in law enforcement databases. This is a one-time benefit and covers specific charges listed in Criminal Procedure Section 10-301.

Cities Served by Anne Arundel County

Anne Arundel County covers a large area between Baltimore and Washington. Two cities with their own pages fall within this county. Glen Burnie is home to the Ordnance Road facility. Severn sits nearby. Arrests in either city go through the Anne Arundel booking process at Jennifer Road before any transfer to Ordnance Road.

The county seat is Annapolis, which also serves as the state capital. The Circuit Court and District Court both operate out of Annapolis, and all court records from these cities flow into the statewide case search system.

Nearby Counties

Three counties share borders with Anne Arundel. Howard County lies to the west. Prince George's County is to the south and west. Calvert County borders to the south across the water. If you are unsure where someone was booked, the statewide VINELink and DPSCS tools can search all jurisdictions at once. Arrests near county lines sometimes end up in a different county's booking system than expected.

Note: The Anne Arundel inmate locator only shows people held in county facilities, not state prisons or federal detention.
